Who We Are

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."        Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV)

Welcome to Narrow Path …

We were founded several years ago as a Christian Guild for those who wanted to play World of Warcraft in a safe & clean environment. Our only mission as a part of the WoW community is to be a Guild full of love & fellowship. It is through this love & connection that we seek to spread the love of Christ. Though we are a Guild of Christians, a basic belief of Narrow Path is to accept (in His love) all who wish to play here regardless of personal beliefs. We are not a Church, but are in some ways a ministry. Though the majority of ministry and aid should be sought at a Church, and not in game.

We are a body that comes from all over God’s majestic world. We are Catholic & we are Protestant, we are denominational & we are non-denominational. We are a family who loves one another for who we all are.

We have no level requirements or class limits, we enjoy all the content this wonderful game has to offer. We all come to play this game in different ways, some to raid & others for pvp, some to meet new friends online, however you play … we believe you can find a home in Narrow Path.

If you would like to enjoy World of Warcraft as a part of our family then please read the rules below & fill in an app at the top of the page. We would be so blessed to have you as a part of our online family.

Guild Rules

All rules of Narrow Path apply not only to our members but all players or persons using our services (IE websites & vent) or taking part in groups, events or Raids organized by Narrow Path.

Note to all members: Please register yourself on our website with the character name that you use in the game. If it is already taken just add a number to the end. It is easier for everyone to keep track that way. We encourage all members to visit the Guild website regularly. The site is always being updated with helpful information as well as current Guild news, updates & events.

Narrow Path follows the rules that Blizzard has for their game and expects that members in our guild follow the same rules.  Here is the link for their rules.  Failing to follow Blizzards Terms and Conditions reflects poorly on both you and the guild

All of the following rules apply to all of Narrow Path, which includes in game, our website as well as vent.

1) No Inappropriate Language
This includes initials that are implying a swear word.  Example:  "wtf" "omfg" "omg" is not allowed or anything like that.  Also words that are synonyms for other terms are also considered bad language.  If you wouldn't say it in front of your mom (or shouldn't say it in front of your mom) don't say it here.

Do not make imappropriate reference to illegal drugs.  If however you are asking prayer requests for a loved one who is suffering from a substance abuse problem then that is, of course, permissable. Additionally if you feel the need to discuss with another Guildie a serious or spiritual matter that involves substance abuse please use a private chat or vent channel as this is a sensitive topic & we do have younger players in the Guild. Such a topic could also be posted on our website forum boards for prayer & encouragement.

2) Treat all players with respect - No name calling or making fun of anyone or non-constructive criticism.

Do not call someone a "noob” or any other derogatory term. Do not make fun of others who make a mistake, we all do. Do not unfairly criticize someone else.  As Christians we are called to help one another and to build each other up. Also, remember, this is a game and Real Life is more important. If someone has real life issues that disrupt our in game activities, we should never complain because real life comes first.  However, as a courtesy to your fellow guild members, please attempt to avoid commiting to activites that you know you will not be able to finish, unless everyone is aware and agrees beforehand.  While unexpected things happen, engaging in an activity with your fellow guild members knowing you will not complete it shows a lack of respect for the time of others.

3) No immoral behavior - Dancing naked or other type of sexual activity is something that portrays a negative image for the guild will not be tolerated.

4) Do not spam the guild chat - No bothering someone constantly, especially if they are busy

Feel free to ask for help.  Remember, however, that everyone needs to be able to play much of the game on their own.  If someone indicates thaey cannot help, or cannot help then, please accept the answer with grace.  Helping each other on challenging quests or other content and grouping with members for instances is encouraged.  Power-leveling or expecting higher levels guildmates to run lower level toons through instances is discouraged. It is important that everyone learns to do instances with equivalent level groups to become proficient in playing your class and learning to group successfully.

No begging or asking for gold from fellow guidies or people in the game. We have many generous people who will often help out a fellow guildmate, however please do not presume on the generosity of others.  If you have an in game item for sale, you may announce that you have the item and if anyone is interested to whisper you.  If you are wondering about an item price, you may ask in general guild chat what the value of the item is.

5) Group looting rules - PLAY NICE

This applies to all Guild Groups or when you are in a group with others unless specifically mentioned prior to the start of the group play.  Raid rules will be established by the raid leaders in guild raids, and by the individual group leaders of ad-hoc runs.

Please do not roll need on something you will not wear or use.

With the changes in the looting system in game, please roll need on any Bind on Pickup item that may be an upgrade. If this is not the case, please feel free to roll greed or disenchant at your discretion.

Disenchant should not be rolled on Bind on Equip items.  If an item is an immediate upgrade for a member of the party, they should feel free to roll need. Everyone else should roll greed.  Items should only be disenchanted if the greed roll winner desires to do so.

In all loot rolls please remember to respect yourselves and each other.  Items that can be used, should be used.  However, equitable spreading the rewards of the group among the group members should always be a consideration for each of us.

6) Power Leveling

a) Power-leveling is not encouraged.

b) If a character needs help with an instance or quest, he/she should first try to organize a guild run for characters of similar level who may need the same quest(s) or want to run the instance.  This can be done on the Narrow Path forums, or through the in game calendar.  Please do not spam calendar invites for others that they are not expecting.

c) If someone is in a hurry the quickest solution is to try to find a group in the dungeon finder system.

d) If the member has exhausted the above he/she can approach another member of the guild but should not take it for granted that the answer will be "yes" or even "right then".  If a member agrees to help it should be considered a courtesy on the helpers part, and the recipient of the aid should treat it as such.

e) Grouping for level appropriate instances is encouraged.  Five person instances can be one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game.  Running these with your fellow guild members can be especially enjoyable.  This is a great place to spend time with friends, and also a great place to make new friends.  Also remember that the cgalliance channel exists for this purpose.  Get in a group and have some fun.

Vent  Usage

When people are in an instance channel on vent, they are most likely in a instance so please do not enter the channel and be disruptive without permission.  Similarly, raid channels are reserved for large group events, and if you are not a member of the group please seek permission from the event organizer to be in channel.

Only Officers are permitted to use the "phantom" feature.  While use of this feature is discouraged, guild officers maintain the right to verify that our rules are being complied with on vent.  the "phantom" feature will not be used on private or officer channels.

The guild vent server is collectively provided by the members of NP both for in game activities (ie raids) and as a place to gather in community (ie the cave).  While we do not restrict access to members only, we do need to ensure that our rules regarding language and behavior in vent are complied with.  All members of NP are encouraged to take advantage of the vent service, but also to respect all of our rules.  Members of our affiliated guilds, such as BHS, are also allowed access to our vent server for joint activities.  For groups outside of the guild, discretion should be used in sharing our vent info.  If a group is primarily made of NP members and a couple non-members are involved, our vent will be available for use by the group.  However, the group organizer will be responsible for ensuring that all of our policies regarding language and behavior are complied with.  If the group is primarily comprised of non-members, we respectfully request that the guild vent not be used.

The vent service is a great utility for us to communicate, but it also needs to be maintained in accordance with the rules we have all agreed upon.  If there is a question about the use of vent, please ask an officer.

In the event any of the above rules are broken then the following is the process leadership will use to discuss matters with members & avoid future infractions.

Matthew 18 15-17 (NIV)

15"If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. 16But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Member differences – Members are encouraged to work out their differences amongst themselves or to contact an Officer for help.  As Christians, we are to settle our differences in a biblical manner, respecting and loving each other whatever our differences may be

1st offense - Member is spoken to by one or more Officers

2nd offense - Member is contacted by the GM or a designated Officer

Additional offense - Further disciplinary action will be at the discretion of the GM and Officers

Please be respectful of others & their views when posting on the forums, even when those views are not your own.

All Officers of Narrow Path have the authority & access to act as forum moderators.

Officers will make every effort to resolve a situation with in a thread before choosing to lock or move the thread.

When handling a situation (publicly & privately) that may arise based on views expressed in a thread, all parties involved (members & officers) are encouraged to follow the scripture laid out in Matthew 18 posted above.

If differences with in a thread can not be resolved w/o locking or moving the thread (either permanently or temporally) then the acting Officer will post either on the thread (if locked) or in the same forum (if moved) the reason why such action was taken.

If a thread is locked or moved then the acting Officer will make every effort to notify the thread's original creator as to why the action was taken.

If it is thought that a thread simply needs a "cool down" period then the thread will be locked for a period of 24 hours while all members are encouraged to pray over the topic in question before continuing discussion.
